What is Pokajan?
"Pokajan" is a 4-player, multiplayer-enabled mini-game playable inside hololive Dreams. The rules resemble mahjong or Donjara: using special "Pokajan!" cards, you form yaku by matching Holomen (your favorite characters) or their generation (affiliated group), and fight over each other's coins.
The biggest difference from mahjong: the game doesn't end when someone completes a yaku and declares "Pokajan." Being able to form new hands and keep winning over and over is the defining feature.
Game Flow
You start with a hand of 7 cards, and repeat the following cycle until the deck runs out.

Check your 7-card hand
Look at your dealt 7 cards and figure out which yaku you can realistically go for (3 of the same Holomen, a matching generation combo, etc.).

Draw one card from the deck
On your turn, draw one card from the deck. If your hand is complete at this point, you can declare "Pokajan."

If your hand isn't complete, discard one card
Choose one unneeded card and discard it. Keep in mind that other players may be able to use your discard to complete their own hand.

Other players' discards can complete your hand too
Even outside your own turn, if someone's discard completes your yaku, you can declare "Pokajan." Unlike mahjong's "furiten" rule, this works in reverse: even if you passed on a matching card once, you can still win off a later discard of the same card.

Declare "Pokajan" once your hand is complete
The cards used in your yaku go to the field, and you earn coins. Your hand is refilled to 7 cards from the deck, and the game continues.
How Coins Are Earned
When you declare Pokajan, who you earn coins from — and how much — depends on which card completed your hand.
🎴 Winning off your own draw (self-draw)
If a card you drew from the deck completes your yaku, you earn a small amount from every player. Since the cost is spread across everyone, the impact on any one player is small.
💥 Winning off someone else's discard (dealing in)
If someone else's discard completes your yaku, you earn a large amount from that one player who discarded it. Since the full value of the yaku lands on a single player, choosing your discards carefully is extremely important.
Your discards are your lifeline: if you misread which yaku another player is close to completing and deal in, you alone can lose a huge amount of coins. See the Strategy & Safe Tiles page for a detailed breakdown of how to think about safe tiles.
End Conditions & Final Ranking
🃏 The deck runs out
Once the entire deck has been drawn, the final ranking is decided by each player's coin total at that point.
💸 Someone's coins hit zero
The game also ends the moment any player runs out of coins. Be careful: dealing into a big hand late in the game can end the match instantly.
Reward Multiplier by Rank
Your final placement (combined with how many coins you bet) applies a multiplier to the coins you receive as a reward. Since finishing 1st makes a huge difference to your payout, fighting for position in the late game matters a lot.

Unlock Requirements
Pokajan unlocks after clearing Main Story Chapter 2, Episode 8, "True Form." If you haven't progressed that far in the story yet, clear that episode first.
Reading Player Info
Tapping a player's character icon during a match brings up a popup with that player's detailed stats.

Tap the character icon shown for each player on screen to open a popup with that player's details.
🪙 Coins Earned
The "Coins Earned" figure in the popup shows that player's net coin gain/loss across all matches so far.
🏆 Average Rank
"Average Rank" shows that player's average final placement across all matches so far. 2.5 is the average line, and 2.4 or lower is a strong result.
